Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the great Russian composer, was born on 7 May 1840. He created three ballets Swan Lake (1876), The Sleeping Beauty (1889) and The Nutcracker (1892), all of them we can see in Mariinsky theatre and enjoy the brillant music by Tchaikovsky. There is one more ballet where his music was used, George Balanchine created his Jewels for New York City Ballet in 1967 and his Diamonds act is accompanied by Movements 2,3 and 4 from Symphony No. 3 in D major (1875) by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. I want to show you some of my photos dedicated to "Tchaikovsky in Mariinsky ballet".
